I think books and artworks are very important for and to children. They are such wonderful sources of inspiration and can take children on all sorts of magical adventures while stimulating their imagination. So when it came to putting together my youngest daughter’s “big girl” room, I was excited to include artwork that reflected her interests, personality as well as some pieces that reflect our values.
Would you like to come in and have a peek?

When my oldest daughter was a baby I was introduced to the charming world of Belle and Boo. I am now a big fan of Belle and Boo artworks that take you back in time to memorable moments from your own childhood. I am attracted to the vintage charm as well as the way Mandy Sutcliffe captures children enjoying simple pleasures and creating magical adventures. We had the sweet strawberry donut wall decal hanging in Miss Three’s nursery above her cot and it is now a gorgeous addition to her big girl room.

Another one of my favourite illustrators who also captures the joy and innocence of childhood is Sarah Jane from Sarah Jane Studios. Above my daughter’s bed we have Sarah Jane’s sweet Read With Me print (I bought this several years ago for my oldest daughter and we have decided to now hang it in my younger daughter’s room).
Each of my three children also have one of Sarah Jane’s gorgeous Family Trees hanging in their rooms. My girls have the pink family tree which can be seen here and my son has this family tree. It’s special to have three generations of our family all recorded on this beautiful artwork.
The other side of my daughter’s room (we are planning on putting a reading chair under the gorgeous deer head and a Happy As Larry Rug on the floor too – I’m thinking this rug might be the way to go – just need to save up)

Miss Three loves to check the letterbox as well as post “letters”. We encourage the art of letter writing with our children so when I spotted this gorgeous piece from Jac, the artist behind roxyoxy creations, I thought it would be a beautiful addition in Miss Three’s room. The details on this stunning piece are extraordinary. Each of the unique creations in the roxyoxy collection are made with fine paper and have a 3D effect. Jac has created so many amazing pieces and themes to suit girls and boys.
Last, but certainly not least, is this stunning deer head which I absolutely love from Flowers, Frills, Buttons and Bows. The shabby chic fabric, handmade crochet and felt roses with pearls make for such a beautiful combination. This has to be the most adorable faux deer head I have ever seen and I love that it is hanging in Miss Three’s room.
Oh my! I think I’m lost for words.
I’ve always loved Belle and Boo prints, but I’m incredibly envious of all these pieces of art. The ‘read with me’ one is sweet and the Roxyoxy one is divine.
Lucky girl!
We’ve been collecting the different artworks for a while now Jackie, so it wonderful to have them together in my little girls room. The minute I saw the “Read With Me” print I loved it and wanted to buy it for my daughter. The best part is that Miss Three loves her big girl room. She is very cute in the morning as she loves to stay tucked up in her bed – it takes a bit of coaxing to get her to come out 🙂
Hi, where is thee beautiful deer head from please?
I would love to get my daughter one…
Thanks
Caroline
Hi Caroline, the minute I spotted the deer head I thought it was gorgeous and unique! It is from the very talented Jodie from Flowers, Frills, Buttons and Bows. The link to Jodie’s site is: http://flowersfrillsbuttonsandbows.bigcartel.com/
