This past week my children have shown a renewed interest in our blocks. One of the reasons this has occurred is because we have been enjoying our blocks in new ways. We were inspired by this post from Handmade Charlotte featuring Tinta Luhrman’s Instagram feed.
We have been using the blocks to create a picture that contains some of our favourite toys.
Miss Eight and I created a rainbow tree with the blocks – a perfect scene for Lily (the doll) to eat an ice cream (made from blocks).
This weekend this building with blocks idea became a family activity where we all contributed to creating some scenes with the blocks. I really enjoy collaborative creations where all family members are involved.
The girls created a sailing boat for their dolls and pickles (a soft toy dog).
Master Six came up with the idea of making a kite with blocks and all three children decided to contribute to this idea.
Master Six used blocks to construct a dog house for one of his favourite toy puppies.
There are so many possibilities with this activity. It’s all about using your imagination and building a fun picture with blocks.
